About me & my soaps

My name is Jenile James.  I started making soap to help my family members and children who have dry itchy skin.  I discovered that using real cold process soap reduced skin dryness.  I also found that by reducing the amount of chemicals being used by my family helped to reduce their allergic reactions.  Over the years, I have changed my recipe to achieve a balanced cleansing and moisturizing bar of soap.  Today, my family uses only my homemade soap.  My soap is 100% handmade from natural oils and saponified using sodium hydroxide or lye and cured for 4 to 6 weeks.  At the end of the curing process, the lye has converted all the oils into soap.  The glycerin has not been removed like supermarket bars so my soaps will not leave your skin feeling dry.  In fact, some commercial soaps are not called soaps.  Some are called "beauty bars" or "bars".  These bars contain detergents or chemicals that end up drying out your skin so that you have to replace the moisture with the glycerin that was removed and put into commercial lotions.  A pretty good gimmick to get you to buy more of their products.  My soaps are real soaps, and have been described as creamy, luxurious, long lasting, non-drying and with lots of lather.  

Natural Soaps

The skin is the largest organ of the body, so why not cleanse it naturally.  Natural soaps are made with all natural ingredients.   The colors are derived from spices, flowers, leaves, micas, oxides or essential oils.  These soaps are scented by essential oils.  There are a variety to choose from and all are safe unlike the chemicals and colorants found in supermarket soap. 

The soap pictured above is available for $7.30 each. Avocado essential oil soap is scented with Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Rosemary & cedarwood essential oils and contains avocado puree. 

Artistic Soaps

Artistic soaps are made using the same natural colorants and but scented with fragrance oils.  For example, the above soap is Black Raspberry Vanilla soap. It is naturally colored with titanium dioxide and micas.  The top is decorated with soap flowers and biodegradable glitter.  The fragrance oil used is a blend of blackberries and raspberries, with notes of white floral greenery, musk and vanilla.  Many of my customers like the variety of scents that are available with the fragrance oils.  Many food and fruity scents are only available in fragrance oils.  Using fragrance oils also makes the more expensive scents of the essential oils affordable.  This soap is now ready at $7.75 each.  Click the button and choose the desired scent from the drop down list.
